Maestro Brian Holman

Brian Holman is a New York based conductor, pianist and coach. He is Music Director of Vera Musica Productions (Aida), and previously, New York Metro Vocal Arts (The Old Maid and the Thief, Coffee Cantata, The Art of Eating). Mr. Holman has conducted at New Rochelle Opera (Hansel and Gretel), Regina Opera (Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermoor), DETOUR New Music Ensemble and Claremont Orchestra. He has also worked as a répétiteur for Opera Africa (Carmen), Treasure Coast Opera (OklahomaI), and Montclair State University (Albert Herring). This season, Mr. Holman will conduct La traviata (Valley Lyric Opera), Il trovatore (Vera Musica) and two programs with NYU based Ensemble Mise-En. As a pianist, he appears in recital with singers Francisco Casanova and Aprile Millo in New York, and pianist Robert Karrass in Toronto. Recent appearances include the Teatro Nacional (Santo Domingo) and the Metropolitan Opera Guild with Ira Siff. Mr. Holman studied piano at Arizona State University and Manhattan School of Music, where he worked with Robert Hamilton, Nina Svetlanova and Ruth Laredo. He has studied conducting with Gregory Ortega and David Gilbert. He serves on the faculties of Montclair State University, American Musical and Dramatic Academy and Westchester Summer Vocal Arts Institute at Sarah Lawrence College.
